Inclusion and Special Needs Education

Horwood and Newton Tracey Primary School prides itself in being an inclusive school where every child’s individual needs are understood and met.  The school is committed to provide appropriate support and a tailored curriculum, as required.  The school has very high pupil:adult ratios which enables us to target our class teaching and intervention programmes successfully.

The school’s Special Educational Needs (SEND) policy is reviewed annually by staff and the Full Governing Body and is available to parents via the link below.  The school works with parents and carers to identify children who may need extra support via Devon’s “Right for Children” strategy which can provide additional help with education, health and social care needs.

Mrs Sue Radley is the school’s Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO).

Sometimes a child may need additional funding to support them in school and then the school prepares an application for an “Educational and Health Care Plan” (EHCP) which is sent to Devon County Council for consideration.
